Love Those Reality Shows

  • Rating: No Rating
I confess! I'm a compulsive "reality show" watcher. From "American Idol", "The Biggest Loser", "The Apprentice" to "Dancing With the Stars", "Food Network Challenge" and "Project Runway", I'm hooked!!! I've come a long way from my young motherhood days when my favorite shows were "Peyton Place" and "Knot's Landing". What's that about??? Maybe it's because I want the "real people" to become winners of those shows. Sitcoms, soap operas and dramas are just about a make-believe world. Today we want the "real deal"! I'm really into reality in my own life these days -- thankfulness for the real blessings of faith, family and friends; overwhelming appreciation for freedom of religion, expression and speech; and most of all the reality of knowing that when I wake up tomorrow morning, that I will be able to dress myself, comb my own hair, feed myself, and so many other daily routines that are so easy to take for granted! Won't you join with me in a "reality" check in your life? I'm sure, like me, you'll find so much to be grateful for, even if we aren't selected for the next round of American Idol!!!

OH...MY...GOODNESS! Thank you so much for confessing {first}! I absolutely love REALITY TV. My husband fusses at me because most of our DVR recordings are filled with Reality TV shows. There is a reality show for almost everyone. Me, being a wedding planner, loves anything wedding (a bit partial to Bridezillas). My hubby has actually found one he adores, especially since he works for State Police, The First 48.

Here are a few of my favs:
Whose Wedding Is It Anyway
Platinum Weddings
American Idol
America's Next Top Model
Dancing With the Stars
Project Runway
Top Chef
{The N's} Queen Bee's
Design Star

...and trust me, there's more! Sorry, I rambled longer than I should. This was a relief to confess. Gotta go, the re-runs from Project Runway are on...LOL.

Yea -- we actually have a sisterhood of reality show watchers!! My 15-year old grandson just got me hooked on Food Network New Star. It was at the end of the season so they re-ran the shows just in time for me to catch up and see the winner announced. Now I think I'm hooked to the Food Network -- I never really watched before -- looks like my husband may actually get some gourmet cooking someday.....if I have time after watching my reality shows. LOL! By the way, you named some of the ones I love also....but didn't want to admit it along with the long list I already gave. Yes, confession is good for the soul!!!

I forgot to mention a new Reality show that is very similar to America's Next Top Model. It came on TVland, She's Got the Look. This competition was for ladies over the age of 35. These ladies were gorgeous--just like the EMwomen ladies.:)

So what did everyone think of the winners for HGTV and Food Network shows? I wanted Kelsey or Shane and think they would make a good show together. I hoped Adam would win and thought Lisa did her best ever that final competition and in that black outfit she rocked going up that harness thing. I could not hear Aaron very well that last competition. I heard his show was already on last Sunday and missed it.

For HGTV I wanted Jennifer from the start. I really liked her. My 13 yr old son wanted Matt and for Food Network he picked Aaron.

We both love DDD with Guy and I picked him early on when he was the Food Network Star competitior. I also picked Amy and heard her show was cancelled. Oh well, I only saw it once and was not impressed. Some from the season with Guy are now on Discovery Health or one of those channels.

Now waiting on The Apprentice.

Hi Bonnie -- At the beginning, Lisa's "over-confidence" put her in last place in my choices, but it seemed that she continued to be humbled and really wanted to be likeable (I loved the episode where she fell in the kitchen and came out saying "I thought I'd wear the meal!"). She seemed to have the "whole package" as far as marketability, not to mention she sure seemed to have the knowledge and expertise in her cooking skills. Aaron was a good ole boy that had that likeability factor right from the get-go! I recorded his show, but haven't had a chance to watch it! I didn't keep up with the HGTV show, but tonight I'm looking forward to the finalist being announced on "So You Think You Can Dance" -- I'll record it too since I'll be on the EMuniversity conference call during that time! I'm looking forward to the return of The Apprentice as well! What did we do with our spare time before reality shows -- hmmmm! I think it was sitcoms -- reality shows are so much better!!!
