It's a corny title, I know. But last week I decided to buy four sunflowers because I simply thought they were beautiful reminders that there is happiness in the world. Anyway, I took these flowers to school and gave them out to four girls that I knew would appreciate them with the instructions that they could keep them for awhile, but they had to give them to someone else at some point in the day to spread the happiness around. I thought that this would be a cool social experiment to see how people would take being presented with the simple beauty of things randomly by a person they might not even know.
Mostly nobody understood it. They made fun of it, saying that they would give it to some "emo" kid that was going to kill themselves, or they said that it was weird or stupid etc. etc. My question is, why would they take it that way? What is so hard to understand about someone giving you a sunflower?
