Tis The Season To Be "HEALTHY"

  • Rating: No Rating
In a season where folks are hugging, shaking, and mingling more than ever, it is a good idea to boost your immune system to maintain a state of wellness. With a passion to see you liv your best life now, here are a few tips and products to keep your immune system at its best:

1. Drink Water

Water is the #1 nutrient our body needs every day. As a rule of thumb you should be drinking half your weight in ounces of water every day. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should be drinking at least 80 ounces of water each day.

2. Get More Rest

A 2001 study at Chicago Medical Institute suggested that sleep deprivation may be linked to more serious diseases, such as heart disease and mental illnesses including psychosis and bipolar disorder, as well as have a more damaging affecting on driving accidents than that of drunk drivers. Optimum sleep ranges from 7-8 hours per night. For each night of limited sleep, a decrease in response and mental clarity is noted in numerous studies. If you have a challenge getting a full night of deep, dream-state sleep, here is a product I have found that is a life-changer. It is called Melatonin. Although you can get melatonin in pill form at your local pharmacy, your body can only absorb a small portion through pills. Instead, try the melatonin strips at www.enlyten.com. (Use the promo code “empower” for a 10%-20% discount.)

3. Wash Your Hands

According to the Mayo Clinic, frequent hand washing is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick and spreading illness. Hand washing requires only soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. As you touch people, surfaces, and objects throughout the day, you accumulate germs on your hands. In turn, you can infect yourself with these germs by touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Although it's impossible to keep your hands germ-free, washing your hands frequently can help limit the transfer of bacteria, viruses and other microbes.

4. Take Antioxidant Supplements

Free radicals cause damage to our cells that often lead to degenerative diseases and advanced aging. So what can we do? The best way to fight free radicals is to call for the super-power of Antioxidants.

Imagine it this way: Like a bully or villain who wants to take over a city and cause chaos, free radicals are an enemy that targets the destruction of the cells in your body. Much like a good comic story, the best solution to protect your body from these villains is to call on a superhero to save the day. In the case of free radicals that wreaking havoc on your body, the best defense is to call on the superpower of antioxidants by incorporating at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day into your diet. By doing so, you may be helping your body reduce its chances of heart disease, neurological diseases, cancer and lowered immunity.

If you find yourself lacking a dieting rich in raw fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, supplement your diet with antioxidants. Our family has found the enlyten "Antioxidant" strips to be an amazing asset to increasing our immunity throughout the changing seasons. These strips, as well as the Melatonin Strips are simply placed on your tongue like a Listerine breath strip. They dissolve directly into your blood stream as opposed to a pill or juice that has to go through your digestive system where a large majority of the nutrients are filtered out by the liver, kidney and throughout the GI tract. To see a full list of products offered in a strip form, visit www.enlyten.com. (Use the promo code: EMPOWER and you will receive a 10%-20% discount.)
